Since our founding in 2006, Step By Step Africa has worked closely with Paul
Aborik, our local partner in Ghana, located in the northern town of Sandema.
Working with Paul, Step By Step Africa continues to focus on
our goal or alleviating the suffering caused by HIV/AIDS. To this end, we have
launched and continue to operate many initiatives. Initially, our focus was on
providing free HIV tests as close to 70% of people with HIV are unaware of it,
and thus do not receive any treatment or take any precautions.
Since then, we have expanded to include providing food aid
during a drought (2007), distributing over 100 malaria bed nets to people with
HIV/AIDS and AIDS orphans, and supporting HIV positive mothers with baby
formula. Most recently, we collaborated with Paul to develop radio awareness
ads that are now being played regularly in the district.
